Legacy AI

LegacyAI is a ChatGPT (Generative Pre-training Transformer) client designed for older Mac OS systems that allows users to converse with OpenAI's ChatGPT from their desktop. The application supports Mac OS 9 - 10.6.8 and provides users with options to save conversations, change AI models, and fully customize preferences according to their requirements. It also allows them to set proxy servers if needed. The tool requires a Macintosh computer running Mac OS 9 - 10.6.8, preferably a G3 processor, at least 16mb RAM, and 1mb disk space in order to run properly. LegacyAI is free to use but API access is dependent on donations towards the running costs of hosting the server and using OpenAI's API.

It should be noted that LegacyAI does not transmit information over HTTPS as the protocol was not yet adopted when Mac OS 9 was developed, making transmissions made using it on an older Macintosh not secure for sensitive matters. The tool was created by Manticore Software in New Zealand and its founder Jordan Trbuhovic as a way to provide an AI-powered personal assistant for people still using older Macintosh computers. LegacyAI provides convenient features such as being able to save conversations for future reference and changing AI models easily while being completely free of charge; however, donations are encouraged in order to keep the server running smoothly and API access available at all times.
